LINDA CALGARO

Linda Calgaro is an improv actor, comedian, musician, teacher, producer and director who has been prominent in the Sydney performing arts scene for over 25 years.

Linda has directed and produced shows for Impro Australia and assisted with projects for Urban Theatre Projects and Sidetrack theatre. She has directed, written and produced shows for the Sydney Fringe Festival, the Sydney Comedy Festival, the Nelson Fringe Festival (New Zealand) and is the founder and director of the mischievous, award-winning Improv trio, Lady Fingers (‘Best Ensemble’ and ‘Best Show’ at the 2015 New Zealand Improv Festival).

As a performer, Linda’s strengths lie in her ability to play a range of characters and her flexibility as an improviser able to play any style, from comedic through to the more dramatic and naturalistic. She is also a singer and musician and combines her love of improvised vocal music and improv theatre in her show The Circle of Sound & Story.

She has studied Improv in Sydney and overseas with teachers from iO, Second City and Loose Moose theatres, as well as having a BA (Hons) in Theatre and Film (UNSW) and studied acting at The Actor’s Centre (Sydney) and Australian College of Theatre & Television.

Linda travels the world performing, directing and teaching improvisation at festivals. In 2016 she was privileged to be invited by Improv legend Randy Dixon to join the ensemble at the coveted Seattle Festival of Improvised Theatre.

As a workshop leader and director, she thrives on getting the best and unexpected out of people, removing the boundaries to creativity to inspire different, interesting, exciting work.
