We've been dreaming of this moment for years.
And now it’s finally here. LMA is pleased to present the Australian Improv Festival. Featuring a broad range of world-class performers and teachers from across the country and around the globe.
This entertaining and educational premiere event truly offers something for everyone – shows, workshops, parties and more.
Audiences can expect long-form improv, short-form improv, musical improv, even Shakespearean improv comedy, as well as physical comedy, live podcast recordings, not to mention a very wide range of exciting workshops open to the general public.
For 2019, the inaugural event, all shows will be held at at the acclaimed Seymour Centre in Sydney. And all workshops will be held at the New South Wales Teachers Federation.
“Seymour has just the right vibe for the festival. As a theatre for contemporary performing arts, they reflect the same values of openness, collaboration and diversity that we have as an improv community.” – Happy Feraren, Artistic Director AIF & Laugh-Masters Academy
Rego for workshops will open, and tickets for all three shows will go on sale 1 May. The lineup is amazing and will help even more people discover the joy – and many styles of improvisational comedy and theatre.
“Back in 2012 when I started LMA, long-form improv was new and the community was fragmented and factional. The idea of putting on an international festival like this seemed a million miles away, but now we’re here. I love that our community is so warm, welcoming, and excited to keep performing and learning. This is our gift to them.” – Eran Thomson, Founder LMA, AIF
The 2019 performer lineup has been announced and features a nice mix of shows from LMA students, alumni and teachers, as well as from other schools across Australia – not to mention international acts from Chicago, LA, San Francisco and more.
The workshop program has also been finalised with 10 amazing workshops on offer. Rego opens 1 May and spaces are limited.
