LMA Sydney's New Home Is...

…The Belvoir St. Theatre!

LMA Sydney's New Home Is... The Home of Improv and Sketch Comedy in Australia

We know. It was perhaps the worst kept secret in the Australian Improv Community, but we were waiting to “officially” announce it until a few more I’s were dotted and T’s crossed.

So without further adieu, LMA Sydney is thrilled to officially announce that we will now be running most all of our classes and shows at The Belvoir. We are grateful for their support and willingness to host us in their iconic and culturally important home.

To quote from their website:

Both the Upstairs and Downstairs stages at Belvoir St Theatre have nurtured the talents of many renowned Australian artists: actors including Geoffrey Rush, Cate Blanchett, Jacqui McKenzie, Toby Schmitz, Robyn Nevin, Deb Mailman and Richard Roxburgh; writers such as Tommy Murphy, Rita Kalnejais, Lally Katz and Kate Mulvany; directors including Simon Stone, Anne-Louise Sarks, Benedict Andrews, Wesley Enoch, Rachael Maza and former Belvoir Artistic Director Neil Armfield.

Belvoir’s position as one of Australia’s most innovative and acclaimed theatre companies has been determined by such landmark productions as The Glass Menagerie, Angels in AmericaThe Wild Duck, The Diary of a MadmanThe Blind Giant is DancingThe Book of Everything CloudstreetKeating!Parramatta GirlsExit the KingThe AlchemistHamletWaiting for GodotThe SapphiresWho’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?Stuff Happens andMedea.

It is our hope that as LMA continues to grow and nurture up and coming Australian comedic and theatrical talent that we may be able to add a few writers, performers – and maybe even shows – to these impressive lists.
